Who CompassHub's executive coaching is for

CompassHub's executive coaching is for you if you run a department, manage a team or have founded a company, and want to work on your next move with someone from outside. You decide to do it and you do it on your own account: it isn't a company programme and it doesn't go through your HR department.

It fits three moments in particular:

  • You want to step up. You see yourself as a managing director, on a leadership team or heading a bigger department, and you're not sure how to present yourself for that role.
  • You're thinking about changing company. You're fine where you are, but you'd listen to an offer if it were worth it.
  • You've just been given your first team, or you're about to accept a management role for the first time.

Challenges you work on in executive coaching

CompassHub's executive coaching covers the challenges that appear when your career changes scale: starting to manage people, holding a difficult team together and stepping up to a role with more responsibility. The coach approaches them from the side of the people doing the hiring.

Moving from specialist to manager. Your first management role changes your job more than it seems: you stop being measured by what you do and start being measured by what your team achieves. In coaching you sort out what you now have to decide, what you need to let go of and how to present that experience when you go for the next role.

Managing a difficult team. A difficult team wears down the person managing it too. According to Gallup's State of the Global Workplace 2026 report, global manager engagement fell from 27% in 2024 to 22% in 2025. The coach helps you separate what depends on you, what depends on the company and whether that role is still the right one for you.

Stepping up a level. For a senior leadership role, having the experience isn't enough: you have to know how to tell it. The usual stumbling blocks are results without figures, team achievements where it's unclear which part was yours, or a story that isn't tailored to the person deciding. CompassHub's team of coaches has spent many years on the other side of those interviews.

Executive coaching format and length

CompassHub's executive coaching is online: conversations with your coach and follow-up in between. There's no published fixed number of sessions or set length: you agree it with your coach when they get in touch, depending on the challenge you bring and whether you have a recruitment process under way.

Aspect Executive coaching at CompassHub Independent executive coach
Format Online, no travel Depends on the coach
Starting point Your roles, locations, work format and salary from the form What you tell them in the first session
Focus Your next career move and your applications Whatever you agree: leadership, team, career
Follow-up Coach's notes on specific offers in your board In your own notes

The applications board is a kanban, a list with a column for each stage (sent, being read, interview, offer). It's part of what CompassHub offers with the app, which hasn't launched yet: today you start by pre-registering.

Frequently asked questions about executive coaching

What's the difference between executive coaching and career coaching?

Executive coaching is career coaching focused on people who already lead, or are about to. The challenges change: stepping up, managing a team, negotiating a leadership role. The basis is the same one we explain in career coaching: a coach who works on your real job search, not in the abstract.

Is it useful if I'm a founder or run my own company?

Yes, if what you want to work on is your next move: leaving your company to join another as a director, or going back to being an employee. If you founded your company, you may have plenty of management experience and little practice with recruitment processes as a candidate, and that's exactly the ground CompassHub's team of coaches knows.

Do I have to be looking for a job to start?

No. You can be in a good job and only listen to offers that beat what you already have. In CompassHub's form you set the salary from which you'll consider offers, and the coaching starts from there. You can start to prepare calmly, without having a recruitment process open yet.

Does executive coaching cover day-to-day leadership coaching?

Only as far as it affects your next move. CompassHub's coaching focuses on your career: how to present what you've achieved with your team, which role suits you and how to get there. If you want in-depth leadership coaching on your style with your current team, a coach who specialises in leadership may suit you better; we explain what it covers in leadership coaching.
